common themes in popular country music:

    1. redneck = country

this isn't really true. the "redneck" brand that is sold to us through CMT is based on lies about southern/country people. we are told that "rednecks" are alcoholics, they love strip clubs, have bad hygiene, eat unhealthy food, and talk like idiots. what is sad is that the people who buy into this crap tend to try and emulate what they see. we have a whole generation of kids who believe that people from the country look and act like Larry the Cable Guy.

    2. emasculation

country music is the most "emo" genre around. no other type of music boasts as many crying men, and somehow it's okay that the male component in country music does not stand for strength.

    3. that girl is crazy

it seems as if women are having to fill the gap left by men who can't stop writing about their emotions. the most popular forms of this theme are expressed through the vengeful ex girlfriend, and the hell-raising country girl (which brings us back to the first theme).

    4. ignorance and fascism

you would think, by listening to some country songs, that patriotism is more important than God.

    5. things aren't the way they used to be

somehow we used to have a magical utopia where everything was great.

    6. i do country stuff

for some reason people like to listen to people sing about doing things. i guess it affirms their lifestyle, or directs it.

we live in a counter-revolutionary nation.

the best argument against tax protesters is, "look at all this money you will get!"

we throw money around for votes.

    our money has no value.

our money will have less value once all of the bailout money has been created out of thin air and issued.

it has been promised that our guns will not be taken away, but the gun lobby will say anything to sell more.

the fairness doctrine will not be put in place, but people still think it's a good idea to silence conservative talk on the radio.

our open borders are killing mexico.

our drug addiction is fueling the fire.

we create money-sucking zombies out of mega-corporations.

we fix the economy with duct tape because it only has to last for four years.

there are no real people in washington.

real people everywhere get their talking points from political grand-standing.

we express ourselves in sound bytes.

like aerosmith, we have become parodies of ourselves.

you like what they feed you.

    crazy things are happening.

    crazy things will happen.

our money is being spent before we make it.

our churches preach politics, and our politicians teach religion.

our religion is based on society.

our society is based on "me".

    our music represents lies.

we lie for the greater good.

we entrust liars with our lives.

    our lives are sacred.

    we hold nothing sacred.
